Parental Leave Policies

Last update: 9 May 2022

Based on anecdotal community feedback.
These policies have not been verified.

What's this about?
In a modern corporate world not (really) designed for parents, it has become more important than ever that workplaces are able to accomodate employees that have a desire to work as well as nurture kids.

Across AusCorp, not all parental leave policies are the same. Not only do some firms not have proper paid parental policies, but the range of entitlements are fairly wide. The purpose of this survey is to bring some transparency to these policies so that firms can strive towards having more accomodating and supportive policies for parents.

If your company is missing or a policy is incorrect, we would love to hear from you!
There is a form at the bottom of this page for you to help us keep this list updated.
Parental Leave Policies Breakdown

Around 3 in 10 respondents thought their company could improve their parental leave policy

Over 50% of firms had a 12 month waiting period to access parental leave, whilst ~20% did not have a waiting period at all

The most common amount of parental leave was 12 and 16 weeks. The most generous firms gave 26 weeks of paid leave.

Additionally, employees must serve 12 months between each instance of parental leave (so no getting pregnant while on mat leave and coming back to work for a cheeky 6 month stint). Finally, there's a clawback on paid parental leave entitlements. If an employee leaves within 12 months of returning to work after accessing parental leave they have to pay back all leave paid.
