In the latest GfK ratings survey, ABC Radio’s performance in Australia’s two biggest markets weakens across the board rather than in isolated shows.
In Sydney, the breakfast programme hosted by Craig Reucassel now attracts just 5.9% of the city’s breakfast audience.
That result is 1.2 percentage points lower than his share in the previous survey, a sharp loss of momentum.
The damage deepens in the mid-morning slot, where ABC host Hamish Macdonald slides even further down the ladder.
His show’s audience share drops from 5.5% to just 3.9%.
That fall pushes the programme into ninth position in the mornings timeslot, behind music-focused ABC Classic which secures a 4.3% share.
Listeners are increasingly bypassing ABC’s metropolitan talk format in favour of alternative options, even within its own stable.
