KPMG’s new deal makes Claude the embedded AI inside its worldwide tax and legal platform, Anthropic’s first integration at this scale within a Big Four tax system.
As part of the arrangement, Anthropic designates KPMG US as a preferred consulting partner for rolling out its AI to private equity firms and their portfolio companies.
That consulting role sits alongside Anthropic’s recently announced USD1.5 billion joint venture with several private equity and investment firms to sell AI tools to middle‑market businesses, including those backed by PE capital.
More than 276,000 KPMG staff globally will gain access to Claude, with advisory services expected to join tax and legal on the integrated platform by the end of September.
In Australia, the partnership means staff and clients access Claude directly inside Digital Gateway, KPMG’s Microsoft Azure‑hosted environment that houses client data, tax models and internal applications.
Local users will also be able to pull in models from OpenAI and Google through KPMG’s internal Workbench platform, expanding the range of generative AI available under one roof.
KPMG’s global tax and legal division, described as its fastest‑growing business, reported almost 8% revenue growth to USD9.3 billion in 2025, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Competitors Deloitte and PwC already work with Anthropic, yet neither has plugged Claude into a core client delivery platform at a comparable global scale.
Embedding Claude into day‑to‑day workflows signals a shift from experimenting with AI at the edges to building it into the firm’s operating spine.
KPMG aims to help tax and legal teams re‑engineer processes, lighten manual workloads and create more data‑driven, auditable outputs for clients.
By offering Anthropic, OpenAI and Google models together, KPMG positions its internal platforms as a multi‑model AI hub for complex professional services work.
That combination could intensify competition among the Big Four as they race to prove which firm can turn generative AI into tangible productivity and client‑service advantages fastest.
