Collins Foods Doubles Down on German KFC Push

Collins Foods is betting big on Bavaria, closing a deal for eight KFC outlets and sharply expanding its German footprint around Munich.

After flagging the deal earlier this year, Collins Foods has now completed the purchase of eight KFC restaurants from JJ Restaurant GmbH & Co in Bavaria. Management positions the acquisition as a way to deepen its presence in Germany, scale up in one of the country’s most densely populated regions and push toward making Germany its second major growth pillar.

The stores are concentrated around Munich, a key urban hub that offers strong consumer traffic and brand visibility.

Those Munich-centric outlets are expected to lift Collins Foods’ German KFC network by roughly 50%, a sizeable jump for a single regional transaction. Executives also frame Bavaria as a springboard, saying that greater scale in the state creates room for further restaurant openings and operational efficiencies over time.

The company continues to flag long-term demand for fast food in Germany, viewing the market as underpenetrated compared to its more mature territories. That blend of network growth and regional focus underpins its confidence in future expansion across the Bavarian region.

Financially, Collins Foods expects the acquired Bavarian restaurants to generate higher operating margins than its existing German portfolio, improving the overall economics of its local operations. Results from the new outlets are consolidated into group accounts from 1 June, so investors will see the impact begin to flow through in upcoming reporting periods.

A more profitable set of stores can support reinvestment in marketing, technology and new sites, especially when concentrated in a single metropolitan area. The company’s update to the ASX frames the deal as a deliberate step in a broader staged German rollout rather than a one-off purchase.
