Australian Red Cross Lifeblood restructures its National Office
Update at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood. Only in National Office.
There's been a broader national realignment happening, moving away from regional structures towards a more centralised national model. This has been happening for the past 12-14 months now.
ICT is currently going through a consultation/restructure as part of this, and separately Finance has also recently let go of 3 long serving senior staff members, with smaller isolated "restructures".
Relationship management & donor acquisition: 20+ roles cut or restructured earlier this year, followed by declining donor numbers and continued pressure on centres to increase collections.
Training & Education: Experienced staff responsible for staff training, clinical standards, safe practice made redundant. More made to reapply for roles.
Finance: Critical staff with decades of combined experience and organisational knowledge cut.
Enterprise Agreement: Thousands of staff facing proposed pay-for-performance tied to collections, clinical compliance and financial results, while experienced teams supporting those outcomes have been cut or restructured.
Wages & conditions: Three months into bargaining, Lifeblood has made no proposal on wages or conditions. No wage offer, no CPI proposal, no improvements to conditions.
These changes are occurring during a cost-of-living crisis, while staff face massive uncertainty about job security, remuneration and future working conditions.
Further to the Lifeblood tip, Australian Red Cross (Humanitarian) is also undergoing a workforce capability review of its enabling functions (Finance, IT, Risk and Legal etc). CEO retired, CFO resigned and capability review began by removing COO restructuring Risk Team.
